Women's super fear short-changes them

A wariness of superannuation is disadvantaging young Australian women. A December 2006 forum was told that younger women are choosing low-risk investments because of a distrust of superannuation funds, when they should be concentrating on higher-risk, higher-return strategies. The survey, presented by an Edith Cowan University academic, examined 30,000 investment choices of members of a health super trust over the period 2001-04. It found that most young women invested in cash and bonds which had to "work harder" than higher risk options like shares.
