An Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) survey of five countries has found that Australia's tax system is the most complex. The results, which were released on 19 June 2008, show that in comparison to the UK, the US, Canada, Singapore and Hong Kong, Australia's tax system ranks second lowest on fairness. ACCA global head of taxation Chas Roy-Chowdhury said that the Australian Government should be reforming the tax system as a priority, and that structural simplification would most likely lead to a decrease in tax avoidance and tax evasion.
