ABIX Summary
Some 50% of near retirement-age Australians are unaware of changes to superannuation laws. A survey by Asgard Wealth Creation also shows that of those 50% that said they were aware, only 31% could provide details of any of the rule changes. Wealth advisers say that the changes, which allow people to put up to $A1 million into their super fund tax-free until 30 June 2007, are the best opportunity to organise super without any tax penalties. The survey also found that 21% of people could not face trying to organise their super and that those respondents were often in the high-income range.
