Super industry calls for worthy sacrifice

Wed Jan 30 2008

The Australian Financial Review --- Page: 10 : 30 January 2008
Original article by Caitlin O'Toole

LexisNexis Summary
The Association of Superannuation Funds of Australia (ASFA) has made a pre-Budget pitch for changes to superannuation rules. ASFA believes that increased superannuation investment would put downward pressure on the inflation rate. It has also proposed an "opt-out" program for automatic personal super contributions and an expansion of the Australian Government's co-contribution scheme by extending the maximum $A1,500 co-payment to those earning over $A60,000 per annum. Research by ASFA shows that more people would take up salary sacrifice if more employers offered the service.
