ABIX Summary
The AXA "Retirement Scope 2007" survey shows that most Australians are willing to accept individual responsibility for retirement financing. Stephen Juan, a behavioural scientist, says many Australians have realised that it is up to the individual to take care of oneself in retirement. According to the study, 60 per cent of working Australians believe they will hold a job in retirement. Currently, less than 10 per cent of retirees are in paid employment. Adrian Emery, the general manager for sales and marketing at AXA, says 52 per cent of survey respondents expect superannuation to be their major source of income.
