ABIX Summary
Residential rents will continue to rise in Australia until 2010. A report by BIS Shrapnel forecasts that dwelling starts will fall by one per cent in 2007-08. This will be the fourth consecutive year in which supply of new houses is less than demand. Tight rental markets will experience further growth in rents for the next four years. A report by St Vincent de Paul Society said that struggling private renters accounted for half the people using its homeless services.
