Mortgagees living on the financial edge

Original article by Sara Rich

ABIX Summary
High home loan mortgage payments are placing pressure on Australian home-owners in a range of areas. According to an online survey carried out by Artog, a financial services website, 20 per cent of people with a mortgage no longer take a holiday, while 16 per cent state that the size of their loan creates stress between themselves and their partner. One in four of those surveyed said that a one per cent increase in interest rates would mean that they could not afford their home loan any more. Kevin Sherman, of Artog, urged people in such a situation to look around for a more affordable loan.
