ABIX Summary
Although many people consider negative gearing a great lurk of the Australian Taxation Office, it is not necessarily true. Although gearing remains valuable to people in the top marginal tax rate of 46.5 per cent, since this applies to a small number of Australians earning taxable income above $A150,000, the overall value of negative gearing needs to be closely examined in 2007.
