There remains confusion about the changes to superannuation and transitional arrangements in Australia. The Australian Taxation Office has produced a special publication on the changes called "Super Myths, Tricks and Tips". Superannuation can only be claimed as a personal tax deduction if the individual is self-employed and passes the relevant test. The easiest way for most Australians to minimise their tax bill is through salary packaging. Salary sacrificing a portion of income into super will reduce assessable income and increase super savings.
