The revised notion of a termination payment in Australia covers any termination payment made by a non-super entity, although it does exclude certain kinds of employer payments. Transitional rules may apply in instances where a staff member qualified for a termination payment before 10 May 2006. An examination of the new rules under the simpler super system shows that employers face an altered regulatory environment with regard to termination payments.
