On 7 March 2007, new economic data showed that the Australian economy is growing steadily. Household consumption is strong and the resources sector is still booming. The New South Wales economy has picked up steam. The overall Australian economy is very strong, although the agricultural sector is lacklustre because of the prolonged drought. The new national accounts figures show that labour market productivity is rising, there are rising export volumes, there are record corporate profits and easing price pressures. The Australian Government has welcomed the figures.
