ABIX Summary
The findings of a two-year inquiry into a plan to allow families to claim child care as a tax-deductible work expense have been released. The report, from a committee headed by Australian MP, Bronwyn Bishop, has strongly endorsed the plan, which is expected to cost $A262 million annually. The report will be tabled in Parliament in the week commencing 4 December 2006. However, allegations that Bishop employed "dirty tricks" to exclude Australian Labor Party MPs from the final meetings on the report have overshadowed the findings.
