Original article by Liam Egan

LexisNexis Summary

Bruce Flegg has moved a bill in the Queensland Parliament that calls for the abolition of stamp duty on life insurance products. Flegg is the Queensland Shadow Treasurer. His bill has been welcomed by Natalie Eckersall, Aviva Australia's general manager - wealth production products, who notes stamp duty adds around $A100 a year to the average income protection product. Eckersall says that any move to reduce the cost of income protection and other life insurance products is good news for consumers.
