ATO unable to cope with Simpler Super

Mon Oct 8 2007

Investor Weekly --- Page: 2 : 4 October 2007
Original article by Christine St Anne

LexisNexis Summary

The Australian Taxation Office (ATO) is struggling to cope with the taxation changes that have resulted from the "Simpler Super" legislation. Matt McCory, of Ausfund, says the ATO is still coming to grips with the interpretation of the new laws, and that as a result, Ausfund must "continue to work in the dark". Noelle Kelleher, of Ernst & Young, says the ATO is having to second staff to help with the referral of queries about the new laws to the Australian Securities & Investments Commission and the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority.
